Destination Exhibit
In 2006 The Museum launched its “destination exhibit” program. The initiative was designed to bring high quality, high profile exhibits to Greenwood and is part of The Museum's community outreach strategy. It is designed specifically to attract visitors from outside the community to Greenwood. It is, in essence, our small contribution to community’s economic development. The program was launched in 2006 with an Ansel Adams photography exhibit, and followed in 2007 by Frank Lloyd Wright's Usonian Designs. The 2008 exhibit "Hatching the Past: Dinosaur Eggs, Nests and Young" is now open and will be in Greenwood for an extended engagement through January 24, 2009.
July 2009 - Pirates and the Hunt for Treasure!
| The Museum is honored to announce the opening of the NRG! Exhibits’ exhibition: Pirates and the Hunt for Treasure!. This traveling exhibit explores the intrigue and excitement of treasure hunting. On display from July 10, 2009 through September 30, 2009, Pirates and the Hunt for Treasure! also focuses on the most notorious of treasure-seekers: pirates. Visitors will learn about shipwrecks, treasure hunters, tools for hunting treasure, and how to look for treasure close to home.
Pirates and the Hunt for Treasure! has four themes, including sunken treasure, buried treasure, gold rushes, and the modern treasure hunt. The hands-on activities throughout the exhibit allow visitors to “sink” a pirate ship, take a virtual tour of a pirate ship, practice tying nautical knots, hear some pirate songs, design a pirate flag, and more.
