Outreach and Partnerships at the Arts Center

 

Summer 2011, Creative Spark Week Camp, with the Emerald Triangle Organizations: The Museum, Greenwood Community Theatre and The Arts Center. Also, the following outreach Art Camps have been planned:
Art Camp's Got Talent! outreach camp with GLEAMNS (June 13th-August 5th)
Art Fiesta outreach camp with La Puerta de Esperanza (June 27th-July 1st )

In February 2010, a partnership with the Greenwood County Library took place about The Big Read; theme, to kill a mocking bird. The Arts Center partnered with the Library as well as the photography departments of Lander University and Piedmont Technical College. A Photo contest about the Book, To Kill a Mocking Bird, was held at the Arts Center, and LU student Jared Simmons recieved 1st place. 

 

 

October 2009. Each year Uptown Development organizes an entire uptown Halloween event call Boo Bash! This event is about saying Boo to Drugs, a partnership with the Cornerstone Recovery Group. In October 2009, The Emerald Triangle cultural organizations worked together to plan activities for this great event, including pumpkin decorating from Uptown, Ghost stories from GCT, a haunted walk through at the Museum and face painting and carnival activities at the Arts Center. In June and July 2009, The Arts Center of Greenwood and the Self Family Foundation funded a 6 week outreach program with GLEAMS and Parks and Recreation to provide art activities for over 150 students ages 6-14. The Art Activities took place at the Brewer site as well as the Hodges Site and the lessons were created by 4 art teachers employeed by the Arts Center.

 

 

In June 2009, the YMCA and the Arts Center of Greenwood partnered to create a week long camp called Express Yourself! This program provided an introduction to explore several art making techniques for ages 5-15. Also in June 2009, the Arts Center was one of the hosts of Creative Spark Week, a collaborative Youth camp based on a partnership of the emerald triangle organizations, Greenwood Community Theatre, The Museum, and The Arts Center. Look for this unique summer camp in 2010!

 

 

In March 2009, the Arts Center and the SC Arts Commission funded an outreach program called the Very Special Arts. This program educated over 115 students at the Burton Center and several District 50 schools, as well as provided performances and an art exhibit of the works created.

 

 

We plan to continue partnerships and outreach with other cultural organizations of greenwood and surrounding areas in the future. If you have a program idea that you would like the Arts Center to create, administer, or be involved with, please contact:
