| Description: | Celebrate science with a wonderful geology-based exhibit at The Museum!
The featured exhibit, Graves Mountain: A Geologic Wonder focuses on the history, mining, and geology of Graves Mountain.
For those not familiar with Graves Mountain, the mountain was once an active mine and is located in Lincolnton, Georgia. A short drive from Greenwood, this geologic wonder features such specimens as Kyanite which can be commonly found in our everyday uses such as sparkplugs and even space shuttle tiles.
This fascinating exhibit was created from the work of local geologists, Dr. Dan Pardieck and Paul Turner as well as the photography of George Ligon and also includes pieces on loan from a number of private collections and NASA. This exhibit will be on display November-February in Gallery B.
